was about to ring the first bell of the final day of National Youth Championship based Boxing Sports Complex Antonio Maceo in this city of Santiago de Cuba and according to exactly the layout for our management plan we could realize an exchange journalist at close range with the MSc Sport Humberto Horta, Head Coach of Junior National Team.
Journalist: would like to know what assessment you on the development of the championship and the balance left for the sport in the country?
Horta: Well, first I want to affirm you that the Youth Boxing in Cuba now enjoys good health and this is demonstrated with this tournament.
As you've seen every province showed an excellent preparation of their athletes, including all abilities, and this suggests a promising future for our discipline.
athletes can face here seen great efforts from now on. In fact already working towards the world championship next year appointment that has not yet designated site but which undoubtedly will be a very demanding commitment.
In anticipation of the universal call as part of efforts to refine our representatives have been involved here is not only part of the members of the national pre-composed entirely of 36 boxers but also the enhanced screening of our provinces. All these athletes will come to monitor not only this tournament but preparatory tournaments.
Reporter: How has in new scoring system and the work of the officers?
Horta: We have applied the new scoring system for the first time and actually at times was a bit shocking to us, because we checked the annotation of shots I really do not have existed.
Anyway, it's an experience that inevitably have to face and therefore in Cuba and we go ahead to adapting to it. As it is known that new formula will begin formally applying the cadet world this year, scheduled for 20 to 30 July in Kazakhstan.
Journalist: What resonance will have on the national youth screening this tournament?
Horta: We now for the national pre-selection can not make any acquisition, only we could have some uptake after completion of the National School Games. At that point then we can assess the possibility of raising two or three at most, because the team is in the CEAR (High Performance Centre) has excellent quality.
Journalist: For divisions which ones are most satisfied? and which ones least satisfied? after what has been highlighted in this tournament.
Horta: We brought nothing thirteen athletes from the national pre-eight of them arrived late, not all because in some cases have had to face each other. I must say that with the eight who came to the end we are very satisfied. They are Jorge Luis Cordero Perlay (52 kg), Moya Yoángel Guibert (60 kg), Luis Oliva (60 kg), Kevin Brown (64 kg), Jorge Luis Gonzalez (69 kg), Osnayo Bencosme (69 kg), Yasmani Zulueta (75 kg) and Yoandris Toirac (91 kg).
Journalist: Here we had a chance to see in action what could be described as leading the senior team. Are technicians believe that this promotion is guaranteed the support needed to maintain success in this discipline of many international results for our country?
Horta: I think so. Historically, the national Olympic team has been nurtured young athletes and I can note in this regard, by way of illustration, recently we had three gold medals in the Youth Olympics and already the three athletes, two are leading figures of the Olympic team and even higher are qualified for the Pan American Games in Guadalajara. So the continuity of Youth Boxing and its contribution to the senior team is always here to stay.
Journalist: Finally, I ask you a few words for fans of Cuban boxing.
Horta: We say that the Cuban boxing and especially youth boxing enjoys great health. I can say that boxing will remain the flagship of Cuban sport.
Cuba, boxing, sports
